I love it. If only I could figure out some way to incorporate it into my Fallout Alaska Fan Lore. It's Non Cannon. And mainly for RPs and whatnot.

What do you think? Took some liberties.

The Tyrant is a beast that holds a misleading name. While it may look fierce and dangerous it is quite the opposite, unless provoked of course. The scaly skin often lead people to mistake this creature as reptilian but it's closest relative is the Sea Otter. Yes believe it or not this creature is a Mutated Sea Otter. Preying mostly on marine invertebrates, and sometimes fish. It has done much to keep the Mirelurk populations in check. But villagers find this creature a problem animal as it often roots around in food stores for Mirelurk meats and fish. And with pungent scent glands they taste something awful. They are a playful lot and are sometimes too inquisitive for their own good which forces hunters to either run them off, or if they've taken to human company kill them.

Dunno how it could root around stores, it's quite big and clumsy. And I still see it as a fierce predator. But hey, it's your setting, make it as you wish.

If you were a Mirelurk you'd be terrified.. But yeah I understand, I just didn't want to make every single creature found in the Alaska Fallout world hostile for no reason. That and I couldn't fit in a dragon. That wouldn't fly with the fan base, so a mutated otter was my next choice.. Why an otter?

Well I needed more water based creatures, and I can see this thing rising out of the water just haunting any nearby fisherman with it's appearance. Also for some unknown reason I totally see an otter in it.

Ha!
Have you noticed it hasn't got any hinder legs? It seriously spoils the composition... It wasn't so apparent when I painted it years ago, but now it hurts my eyes. Gotta paint it again ;)

I'd recommend you to draw something from reference. It's much better for beginning.
Here is example. My todays works in sketchbook: [link]
And start with something simple. Then keep adding details. Also make a collection of tutorials and reference images (like in my "Favourites" gallery). That's my method ;)

In fact you only need to keep drawing and practicing. That's all. After years you'll become better than you think.

Good for beginning. Don't color anything yet. Start with grayscale shading. Add shadows, use eraser to do highlights. I don't color my stuff too. I just don't know how. When you understand lights and shadows, then you can begin with colors.
Or maybe take some color pencils and coloring book (really, even if it's for kids) and fill it with gradients from darker tones to lighter. I do it myself even if I am almost mature ;)

Whoa! What a beast! Tell me, does the Frostbreather still roam those icy wastes, or was it driven to extinction by humans and competition from Icelandic White Dragons later on? if it can do this to a group of nordic warriors, it must be ferocious indeed.

No one knows. Maybe there is one or two in most northern shores, far away from civilisation. What if some mountain is in fact dragon frozen to the bone but still alive?

an apt question, as a dragon's camouflage abilities rival a chameleon or an octopus.

In some way. They "disappear" beneath layer of snow, and with stone-like scales they look like a rock.

I wanted him to have that calm face. Probably he is very very old and last of his kind and he looks optimistic at everything. "Viking raid is going to murder me? Yay, dinner!"

Have you seen that Family Guy episode where Brian and Stewie travel through different dimensions and they go to a dimension where religion never existed? That dimension had lightspeed trains, remote poop removal and no one was ugly. It's true that religion have held back science for decennia.

Yup, If we skipped medieval times, we should be colonizing space right now.
